Two AMD Adrenalin issues come up often enough on RX 9070 XT-class builds that they're worth documenting properly instead of just "reinstall your drivers" — which usually doesn't fix either one.
Issue 1: Alt+Z freezes the cursor
Opening the in-game overlay with Alt+Z sometimes locks the mouse cursor in place, even after closing the overlay again. It's almost always an overlay/hotkey conflict rather than a driver fault.
What to check
- Other software using the same overlay hotkey (Discord, GeForce Experience if present, Xbox Game Bar) — conflicting Alt+Z bindings are the most common cause.
- Disable Xbox Game Bar's own overlay entirely if it's not being used; it frequently fights with Adrenalin's overlay for the same input hook.
- If it's still happening, try rebinding Adrenalin's overlay hotkey to something unused instead of Alt+Z, and see if the freeze follows the key or stays tied to Alt+Z specifically — that tells you whether it's Adrenalin or another app intercepting the combo.
Issue 2: Record & Stream tab disappears
The Record & Stream tab in Adrenalin can vanish entirely after an update or driver reinstall, which usually means the recording service isn't registered correctly rather than the feature being missing.
Fix order that actually works
- Open Windows Services and confirm "AMD External Events Utility" is running — this is what powers ReLive/Record & Stream. If it's stopped, start it and set it to Automatic.
- If the service isn't the issue, do a full clean reinstall using AMD's cleanup utility (DDU in Safe Mode) rather than installing over the existing driver — a straight reinstall often leaves the broken service registration in place.
- After reinstalling, open Adrenalin once and give it a minute before checking for the tab — it sometimes takes a moment to rebuild its UI state on first launch.
General rule for both
Neither of these is a hardware problem, and neither responds well to "just reinstall drivers" as a first move. Check for hotkey/overlay conflicts and service status first — save the full clean reinstall for when those don't resolve it.
